1) Cook a handful of simple yet tasty plant-based meals.
2) Eat, eat, eat! Yes, of course, we will eat what we cook!
3) Cook with people interested in learning more about plant-based cooking (just like you!)
4) Leave with a variety of recipes that you can easily incorporate into your cooking repertoire and even fit into a busy life.
5) End the session with a tour of the Goat Conspiracy Sanctuary, meet the goat and chicken residents, get some goat snuggles and listen to the peaceful cooing of our sweet chickens.
*$10 from every registration will be given as a donation to the Goat Conspiracy Sanctuary.

In this session, we will make and eat a tasty and robust yet simple to prepare vegan breakfast/brunch, including beverages and one sweet and three savory breakfast standards (with a vegan twist). One of the hurdles to including more plant-based meals in ones life is often where to start and how to make meals that are tasty, filling and easy to prepare. In this session, together we will make 4 main dishes that are delicious, nutritious and quick and easy to prepare and one super simple yet yummy dessert. What does the Abe Martin Lodge have to do with a picnic shelter out in the woods? Join us at the Nature Center at 11am to find out! The hike will be about two miles and should be considered rugged. It will take us about an hour and a half to complete.

The Frost Warrior Walk marks the official kickoff of Warriors in Nature Project’s 2026 statewide mission to reconnect veterans through nature, purpose, and community. This opening event takes place in the beautiful hills of Brown County State Park, one of Indiana’s most iconic outdoor spaces.
This gathering is designed for veterans, families, children, spouses, friends, and supporters. Whether you served in combat, supported from home, or simply believe in the healing power of community, this event welcomes you.
Family-Friendly Mission
Warriors in Nature Project strongly encourages participants to bring their kids, spouses, partners, and loved ones.
We take pride in building events that:
• Strengthen family bonds
• Give kids healthy outdoor experiences
• Bring spouses into the community
• Encourage veterans to reconnect through shared activities

What to Expect
Arrival & Check-In

Participants will gather, meet volunteers, warm up, and prepare for the morning hike.
The Hike
The group will move together at a family-friendly, moderate pace through ridge trails, scenic overlooks, and a peaceful ravine loop.

• Hydration and rest break
• Short message from Russell about the 2026 mission

Join us to see the 3rd lake in Brown County State Park – the one that was started but never finished by the name of Taylor Hollow Lake. This hike is about 3.5 miles long and is very rugged, with a fairly steep climb with ruts and several creek crossings! This hike will take us about 3 hours to complete and is worth every minute! Come see this amazing site complete with spillway, dam, and almost totally complete lake structure which has been reclaimed by the forest! This hike is what started this Winter Hike Series and is a fan favorite. Please make sure to dress for the weather. Muck style boots or rain boots will be very helpful to cross the creeks. Meet at the Nature Center; then we’ll carpool to the destination.
Please note this hike is longer than usual due to a road closure.
Please do not bring pets on off trail hikes.

Before Brown County State Park became a park, the land was part of the county. Many homesteads existed here, including a small village known as Kelp Village. Hike with us as we explore this old village – we’ll see foundations of buildings, home sites, and more! This hike is about 1.5 miles round trip and is probably the least rugged of all the Winter Hikes. Most of this hike will be along a park road, but we will venture off the road and off trail into the woods to see some of the sites. There aren’t any big altitude changes which is what makes this one so much easier. There is also one creek crossing. Please dress for the weather. Meet at the Nature Center; then we’ll carpool to the destination.
Please do not bring pets on off trail hikes.

Join us for an evening of fun and friendly competition at Designer Purse Bingo at Big Woods Pizza Nashville! On Saturday, January 24th, we’re turning bingo night into a stylish event with chances to win designer purses in a variety of sizes.
Doors open at 4:00 PM, with games beginning at 5:00 PM, hosted upstairs at the restaurant. Tickets are $35 and that includes 10 bingo cards, a drink ticket, and dauber use. Food and additional beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
In addition to bingo, we’ll also be hosting a special raffle featuring local prizes. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at $5 each or 6 for $20, and all raffle proceeds will benefit a local school to help cover unpaid school lunch fees making this a fun night out that also gives back to our community.
Seating is limited, and this event is expected to sell out, so advance ticket purchase is highly encouraged.

Join a park naturalist for a guided night hike on the Salt Creek Trail! The Full Moon is the brightest night of the month, leading to interesting views along the creek. Learn about February’s full moon, the Snow Moon. The Salt Creek Trail is rated very easy, but should be considered moderate in the dark. The trail has some minor slopes and a short stretch of lawn. Our route is 2 miles total and will take about an hour to complete. Please do not bring pets on night hikes. Red flashlights are preferred for night vision and can be loaned to hikers on request.
Please note the restrooms at the Olympic Pool are closed for the winter. Plan ahead!
