My husband and I both grew up right here in Brown County, where the pace is slow and the scenery is beautiful in every season. My family took a vacation every year when I was growing up. Those trips are some of my most cherished memories. There is something sacred about time away — stepping out of routine, reconnecting, being intentional together.

20 something years ago, I began my hospitality journey at the front desk of Abe Martin Lodge inside Brown County State Park. I greeted families, watched kiddos run through the lobby with excitement and saw firsthand how meaningful a stay in Brown County could be. Along my journey, I’ve worked in education, retail and business… all of those experiences prepared me for something I didn’t know was coming.

Then came marriage and motherhood. Traveling with little ones brought joy — but also stress…. and so. much. luggage. That seed was planted: What if there was a place designed specifically for families like ours?

Mid-2022 | A friend came to church and asked if I knew anyone who might want to buy an old farmhouse that needed a complete restoration. We went to tour the 47-acre property, intending only to look at the house. But we fell in love with the peace of the land. The quiet. The rolling ground. I said yes immediately — not fully knowing where the journey would lead. Our family teamed up to purchase the entire property. We acquired the home and three-ish acres, while our family kept ownership of the surrounding farmland.

The farmhouse needed everything… structural repair. layout revision (because let’s be honest — no one wants the stairway to the second-floor bedrooms inside the master bedroom). HVAC, plumbing, electrical, you name it. With the help of many talented local Brown County contractors, we completed a full restoration. It wasn’t just construction – it was honoring the original character of the house, while redesigning the space to serve families for years to come. My experiences as a mom, my years in childcare/education, my background in hospitality… every bit of it was poured into the intentional design and furnishing of Blessings Farmhouse – a truly family-focused vacation rental in Brown County, Indiana. I knew how impactful travel could be for families, and I wanted to curate every bit of the guest experience meaningfully. I wanted guests to walk in and feel peace. connection. fun. (And we were committed to making sure the home was actually functional for families… our family stayed at the farmhouse weekly for the final months of construction… testing beds, cooking meals, playing games… making sure everything you might need was there.)

July 2023 | I launched @VisitBrownCounty — social media dedicated to sharing beautiful Brown County, Indiana. One of the biggest challenges facing our community is simple: people don’t know what they’re missing. Visit Brown County became a way to shine a light on all things Brown County, from local restaurants to seasonal events and can’t miss experiences. July 2024 | Blessings Farmhouse officially opened for guests. I dove deep into software and systems to ensure guests would have a seamless experience… balancing automation where helpful (like keyless self-check in), while maintaining human connection always. My goal was simple: to help families could find relaxation, connection and fun together.

2024 updates (Yes, we replaced all the blankets just a few months after opening… but the guest experience mattered more than continuing to use blankets that shed everywhere…. seriously, so much shedding.)

-Added kids roller coaster in the game barn
-Tweaked systems

2025 updates
-Replaced kitchen gear (cookie sheets, pots & pans, etc)
-Bedroom 4 got a little “extra” with a camping-themed makeover
-Added a new deck was added on the front of the house. This was a huge project (while still paying down renovation debt), but worth every penny. I often get asked “will the home be okay for grandma?” and was so thankful for the ability to add the front deck with ramp. At the end of the year, I realized 100% of Blessings Farmhouse reviews were 5 stars… I’m both humbled and so proud that the vacation home I dreamed of serves you all so well.
